Description

Back in 2001, when I was in the hospital during my pregnancy with my daughter, the nurse gave me a rice sock to help me with my labor pains and it worked tremendously! I used that rice sock for years after I got out of the hospital for cramps, headaches, backaches, other aches and pains and sometimes just to relax after a stressful and busy day.

That rice sock is the inspiration for my new rice heating pad. It is handmade with an extra large tube sock, which is hand sewn at the end three times for extra durability - the rice stays in and there are no holes for any rice to seep out.

If ordering with lavender oil, the rice will be infused with the calming scent of lavender essential oil.

The outer layer is made with a colorful tribal-patterned non-pill fleece material, which is cut to perfectly fit over the sock. It is cut with strips on all sides and each one is tied in a double knot so it stays put.

The fleece outer layer is washable and can be taken off by untying the strips on one end. The strips can easily be retied after washing.

To use, you can put the whole heating pad (inner and outer layer) in the microwave and heat for 1-2 minutes depending on your microwave. You want the heating pad to be warm to the touch, not hot, to prevent burns or excessive heat to the area.

If ordering without the lavender oil, you will smell a little bit of a rice smell when it's heating up, but the smell goes away a few minutes after removing from the microwave.

If ordering with the lavender oil, you will smell the calming scent of lavender which is an essential oil that is widely used to help with relaxation and relieving stress.

This heating pad is large enough to fit across your stomach for cramps or stomach pains, or across your back when sitting against it, or anywhere that you need relief.

Measures approximately 15" long by 4" wide.

You can use it to relieve pain or to unwind and de-stress after a long workday. The warmth feels wonderful and it really helps you feel relaxed! You can also use it to stay warm under the covers during the wintertime.

Can also be used as a cold pack by putting in the freezer or refrigerator for an hour or so.

This item is ready to ship in 1-3 business days via USPS priority mail in the U.S. All international orders will be shipped via USPS first class international mail.

Your rice heating pad will be sent to you wrapped in a plastic bag tied with twine at the top with the instructions attached, which is perfect for gift-giving (see last listing photo for example; please let me know if you would like a gift note included in the package at no extra cost).

Made in my smoke-free studio; all materials (fleece, socks and rice) are stored in clean plastic bags and bins with lids so that your rice pad will be natural, clean and fresh, dry and odor-free (except for a small amount of rice smell or lavender smell).

I will be making these in lots more colors, patterns and sizes, and plan to add other aromatherapy oils as well, so come back and visit soon to check out my new listings!

Thanks for visiting!
