Description

This bow tie pattern quilt is a beauty! It dates from either the 1930s or 40s, all hand quilted with incredible detail. It a good size to use on a bed or draped over a couch. The calico fabrics are all different patterns and colors. The back is a plain muslin.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY: The Bow Tie quilt pattern dates from the 1880s when the bow tie had become a staple in the fashion conscious man's wardrobe. The block was first published as "Necktie" in the Ladies Art Company catalog of block patterns in 1895. Other names for this traditional block include: Colonial Bow Tie, Peekhole, and True Lover's Knot. It became more popular in the early part of the 20th century.

DIMENSIONS: 60" x 70"

CONDITION: Good vintage condition considering its age. There are a couple of tiny tears seen in the last 2 photos but other than that, it is well-made and in good condition. I found this at a high-end estate sale and it was on a wooden hanger, hanging in the closet. It doesn't have an odor but I recommend washing it on a delicate cycle in cold water before using the quilt.

All of the breakable items are wrapped carefully in heavy-duty bubble wrap with extra care and are insured. I try to recycle boxes and packing materials whenever possible. I also try to ship in priority boxes to ensure they arrive safely. This will be wrapped very carefully and shipped in a large priority box.

All of the items are stored in a non-smoking environment away from pets and critters.
