This is a sweet old vintage tin circa 1920s or 1930s, which was used for saving buttons. It is small, 5 inches in diameter, and 2.75 inches tall.

this tin is black--japaned as they used to call it-- with a sweet golden peacock, a crescent moon and some neat shrubbery. The surface has lightly dulled, showing signs of use and wear that it earned over many years of good service as a keeper of some lovely old circa 1930 plastic, probably celluloid, buttons; most of which are in the yellow family, with wonderful transparent honey, butterscotch, gold, amber, white, cream and other assorted colors.
