An incredible 6mm Chatham lab created alexandrite (1.13 carats) sits in a handmade setting on a 14k yellow gold comfort-fit band (4mm wide). A coordinating 14k yellow gold wedding band (3mm wide) is notched to allow the two bands to sit flush together. All of the metal used in this ring's construction is from recycled sources.

Alexandrite is a June birthstone.

The stone is more beautiful and colorful in person than my photographs are able to show. Depending on the light, it can appear nearly sapphire-blue, almost as purple as an amethyst, a similar shade of green to an emerald, or any combination of these hues. It has an amazing amount of color play.

Please let me know what size you need when you place your order, and plan on about a three week turnaround for your custom piece.

The alexandrite ring can be purchased on its own (without the wedding band) for $1,448. Please convo me to request a custom listing.

I can re-create this design with all kinds of other 'tweaks' - a different sized stone, different type of stone, wider or narrower band, a different type of metal (sterling silver, white gold, rose gold, or green gold), or a different finish (shiny or satin as opposed to the hand-textured look shown here). Please convo me for details on custom work.

A few words about lab-created stones...

Lab created stones (also referred to as man-made, synthetic, or cultured stones) are NOT fakes. They are chemically and optically identical to their mined counterparts, but by growing them in the lab, many of the environmental and humanitarian problems inherent with gemstone mining can be avoided. This particular stone was created by Chatham Gems, a leader in created gemstones. According to the company, "Chatham does not make gemstones, we make environments in which crystals grow naturally." In other words, these are real gemstones that are cultured in a laboratory - natural components are placed in an environment created to duplicate nature's. Once the required combination of chemical and environmental factors is created, the crystals grow over the course of a year, the length of time depending on the gemstone. As a result, quality diamonds and gemstones are developed with identical physical, chemical, and optical properties to those found in nature.

Due to the value of this piece, shipping costs have been adjusted to include insurance within the United States. I do offer international shipping; if you live outside the US, please contact me for a quote specific to your location. Due to the lack of availability of insurance through the US postal service for international packages, I use FedEx when shipping overseas; this is a more expensive but far safer option. International buyers, please be aware that you are solely responsible for any duties/taxes that your country may charge on imported goods.

If you would like to make two payments (50% now and 50% upon completion), please note your preference in the 'notes to seller' field and select 'other' as your payment method. Once I receive your order I will send a Paypal money request for half the total, or you can call me to process the partial payment on your credit card over the phone.

SHIPPING INFORMATION
-----------------------------------

If you live in the United States and your order total is below $2,000, default shipping is via USPS Priority Mail (insured). If your order total is above $2,000, complimentary FedEx 2-Day delivery is included (also insured). If you prefer a different shipping method, please ask.

I do offer international shipping; because the US postal service will not insure jewelry items shipped internationally, I use FedEx International when shipping outside the US; this is a more expensive but far safer option. The price listed here for international shipping is an ESTIMATE ONLY - actual shipping costs could vary by up to $40 over or under the amount listed. If you would like an exact quote for shipping, please contact me prior to checkout; otherwise, I will contact you soon after checkout with an EXACT shipping quote and we will make arrangements at that point for a refund or additional payment. International buyers, please be aware that you are solely responsible for any duties/taxes that your country may charge on imported goods (this amount is NOT included in the shipping cost due here, but is paid separately upon receipt of goods). Please do not ask me to lie on the customs form; it's against the law! I can also provide an estimate for duties/taxes upon request.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY SHOP
-------------------------------------------------

I am an eco-freak! Wherever I possibly can, I make decisions that support the health of the environment, as well as the people and other animals that inhabit our earth.

I use recycled office supplies and shipping materials whenever possible. My studio electricity is generated from solar panels on our garage roof. I purchase carbon offsets for shipping. And of course my designs incorporate only recycled metals and ethically sourced stones. Please visit my 'About' page here on Etsy for more info!

All of my jewelry is vegan-friendly meaning no animal products (pearls, silk, leather, etc.) were used in its construction.
