Description
This two-color print is the first of my Year of the Dog series. It celebrates of the Yorkshire Terrier, a dog hailing from north England. Yorkies pack a lot of bark in their little bodies, so their history makes sense — they were developed to be ratters (omg!) in the wool and textile mills of Yorkshire that were common during the 19th century.
The white rose on top and the surrounding rose vines framing the Yorkie are symbols of Yorkshire and England, respectively. A cheeky rat among the yarn and thread below braves the imminent danger. Gritty textures throughout make me think of the industrial time period in which Yorkshire terriers came to be.
My Year of the Dog is a series of 12 works. The Lunar New Year is marked by the New Moon closest to spring (for 2018, that's in February). For that month, plus 11 of the following months of the lunar year, I will be creating one work celebrating a breed of dog. The Yorkshire Terrier is the first.
The print is on thick, slightly blue-ish paper that has visible fibers.
Prints are made from two linoleum blocks I carved with woodworking tools. Each print is inked and individually pulled off a press twice, one pass for each color. Because of these manual production processes, please expect unique textures and/or minor differences in each print.
Dimensions
• ~8 inch (~20,3 cm) wide
• ~11 inch (~27,9 cm) tall
For shipping, the print will be slipped inside an acid-free, archival protective sleeve and packed with a piece of sturdy board.
Each print is signed.

FAQs
If you fall into the rare 1% in which you're asking if I can ship your order to Australia when your address is in the U.S., then the answer is no — because shipping costs are based on your address on file.
You can expect minute differences across each item you buy. The one you own will be unique.
I couldn't find very much showing rats as cute or affectionate, and none at all showing what it's like to have rats as pets (loving the unloved, etc.) Whatever I could find was not very well designed.
So I've been creating things that show rats in a different, more accurate light. I am designing and making more cute rat things because the world doesn't have enough.
1) Prior to your order, you convo me and make arrangements to use a different carrier or service. In this case, shipping costs will likely be added.
2) Your order falls below $5.00. In this case, your order may be shipped with another USPS service (such as First-class Letter or Media Mail).
