Description

Truro Leylandii

Hand turned in my workshop in Cornwall.

This Leylandii was given to me by a friend who had left it at the back of their garage for several years and forgotten about it. It had dried out beautifully and gave me some lovely wood to work with. I’m not entirely certain of the wood species but I think it is Leylandii. It has many similar properties to Macrocarpa which I have worked with a fair amount but lacks the distinctive smell and feels slightly denser.

The grain is beautiful, especially around the more knotty and gnarly pieces of wood, and polishes up very nicely with my cornish beeswax.

Dimensions (approx)

Width : 165mm (6 1/2”)
Height : 80mm (3 1/4”)

Finished in pure natural organic beeswax, locally sourced from Portreath just a few miles along the coast from me.

Laser engraved on the underside with the number bowl from this tree.

Please check my other items in the shop for lots more live edge bowls and other things from my cornish workshop!
