Who's Ulysses S. Grant?
Before becoming President, Ulysses S. Grant was general-in-chief of the Union army during the American Civil War. During his two terms in office Grant led Reconstruction and built a powerful Republican Party.
This print has a worn feel to it with Grant in the foreground set against a background of red, white, and blue wooden planks. Grant's administration was often linked to scandal. Here Grant reminds us that decisions made, even with the best intentions, don't always yield the desired results if they are not based on sound judgement.
