Description

Small lidless oak pot to put... things in.
To be perfectly honest I didn't really know what this was when I was making it. It just happened. One minute it was a lump of oak and the next minute it was this.
Bigger than an eggcup and smaller than a goblet it could be used to keep rings, earrings and other trinkets in so they don't roll around all over the place and get lost. Because the foot is as wide (give or take) as the pot itself it sits nice and sturdily on a flat surface and won't fall over if you breathe on it hard or march past it in Army boots.

Measuring 2.25" high and 2.75" across with the depth of the pot at 1.25", this is made from a single piece of 'green' English oak branch, meaning it was freshly-cut and still full of moisture when it was turned on the lathe. As it dried in a warm house it developed a lovely subtle texture inside and out, kind of like delicate vertical ribs which are wonderfully tactile.
Although the piece has been lightly waxed, the underside of the foot has been left unfinished for that quintessential rustic vibe, which means it still has a knobbly bottom. I think most of us can relate to that.
