Winter Cardinal - Framed Thread Painting - Modern Quilted Wall Art in Muted Sunset Tones

A female cardinal sits on a branch amidst hushed winter sunset tones in "Waiting for Spring," a thread painting by Melanie Lovering.

Background fabric is digitally printed and meticulously machine quilted with a technique called "echo quilting," where the stitch lines trace the edges of the branches and move out like ripples in a pond. The branches are enhanced with thread "sketching" - details are added with thread without filling in the entirety of the shape.

The cardinal is thread painted with many varying colors of thread, producing a wonderful feathery pattern. The cardinal is then sewn to the background to create a piece with dimension and texture.

9" x 9" fabric artwork has a 1" wide signed white mat and a 1.5" wide black wooden frame.
