Materials: yixing clay

Material:
The Chinese yixing clay zisha tea pot is made by using yixing zisha duan ni clay, which is also known as “lao tuan ni” produced in Huang Long mountain, Yixing county. Duan Ni Clay can be also ground into powder which is used to to make the “grit” or fleck effect some artists enjoy using on Yixing teapots and wares. Once fired, Duan Ni Clay are said to have a “goose yellow” colour, sometimes with a few red spots inside.

Pattern:
The Chinese yixing clay zisha tea pot is decorated with hand-engraved bird on branch on on side, the other side is Chinese handwriting of a farewell poem by Li Po “唯见长江天际流” which means “Only the Yangtze river flows at the horizon”, shows the unwilling sentiment to breakaway friend. The original item did not ever arrive, which was very frustrating, but the seller was very accommodating and sent me another package with expedited shipping. It was disappointing as the whole ordeal ended up taking about 7 weeks, so the item was very late for Christmas. I would recommend ordering far in advance if you have a holiday or birthday coming up. Otherwise, great product! A little small, but very well made

Has signs and markings that this is definitely handmade! Passes the quality check for air hole seal, aligned spout, lid, and handle. The pour dribbles a bit, but for the price and the quality of the clay, it's worth the compromise. This is the first time I am dipping my toes into yixing teaware therefore all I have to go by are my due diligence and research. The zini clay feels right, when brewing roasted dark oolongs, it does what zini clay is supposed to do, dampen and balance the tea. To confirm this, I have brewed light oolongs, and it noticeably took away a lot of the delicate flavors. All in all, for a beginner and intro into yixing teaware I am more than satisfied with this teapot. Oriarm have quite a bit of info on where their clay is sourced on their individual listings which helped a ton.
