DESCRIPTION:

This is a set of fully-illustrated patterns and instructions in PDF format that will help you create the nursery mobile in the pictures. No sewing machine is required; everything is done by hand. The mobile consists of two llamas, two small cacti, two large cacti, three clouds, and a snow-covered mountain.

PLEASE NOTE: This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty because it requires greater time and patience than most other patterns in this shop. The intricate embroidery and hand stitching is not difficult, but is time-consuming. If you have little or no experience sewing and are nervous to try this project, perhaps you could try another pattern first. However if you are an adventurous crafter with patience and attention to detail, you should have no trouble completing this project, even if you don't have experience with hand embroidery.

APPROX FINISHED SIZE:

Not including the string to hang it, this mobile is approximately 14 inches (35 cm) from top to bottom, and 14 inches (35 cm) in diameter. (Llamas on their own are approximately 6.5 inches tall.)

TIME TO MAKE:

This project will take approximately 18 hours from start to finish. It is not a hard project, but it is a labor of love due to the time involved.

GENERALLY REQUIRED MATERIALS*:

• Craft felt (or wool felt, if desired)
• Embroidery floss
• Embroidery needle
• Scissors
• Straight pins OR glue stick OR tape
• Printer & copy paper
• Stuffing (fiberfill)
• Mobile hanger/frame (I recommend: www.etsy.com/listing/506144022)
• Mobile arm, cup hook, or similar

DISCLAIMER:

Although the individual elements do not weigh much on their own, when assembling the pieces of this mobile it is important to tie securely so that pieces do not come loose and fall on your infant. Although they are not heavy enough to do any physical harm from a fall, the small pieces could pose a choking hazard if left unmonitored in little hands.

Please test your completed mobile for it’s strength and durability. It is advisable to hang it for a week or two before placing over an infant's crib to ensure it is holding together as it should.

CUT FILES: SVG and DXF files are provided for those with digital cutting machines as a supplementary bonus item. Technical support in their use is not available.
