Description

1/3/19 Ready to ship! Thus listing is for one NAVY BLUE stained light as shown in the first two pictures of this listing.

If you want a different stain on the light, one can be made to order within 2 weeks with your choice of stain, please go to listing: https://etsy.me/2Fk3GKX. PLEASE Note when choosing a finish that the lighter stains or poly only are not only more traditional looking but allow more light to pass through the wood for maximum

Scandinavian design, custom memory light in the shape of a bright shining star with heart and diamond cutouts.

This is a hanging light, hand-carved out of Bass Wood and perfect for mood-setting low light in a window, overhang, doorway or enclosed back porch. The idea of the Star Light came about in Nordic countries, particularly in Sweden, where daylight hours are few. There are a few theories of the origin of the light. One is that lights similar to this were hung in the windows as welcome lights indicating that the home was a safe haven for weary travelers to stay the night. Another theory is that the people of Scandinavia hung these lights in a window to simulate the sun since their winters were filled with so much darkness. I like to think of these lights as a beautiful memory light that can be lit in remembrance of a certain person or event in your life. For me, when I have the Star Lights on in my home, I feel calm and very peaceful.

I started making these lights in honor of my father who is of Swedish ancestry and I wanted to make something with strong ties to Nordic countries to represent his life. Each light is hand-carved by me with love and peaceful thoughts.

The light is generally 12 and 1/2 inches. It is double-sided so that light can shine through the hearts and stars on both sides. There is a 2 and 1/4 inch space in between the stars. The wood is unfinished but for two polyurethane coats. This light has a 3.5 watt (25 watt equivalent) LED energy saving lightbulb and an electrical cord. You must use an 4 watt or lower LED bulb with this star.

The bass wood is very thin and is hand-carved with a knife by me. The shapes are not die-cut so, they are not perfectly precise due to the lengthy hand-carving process.

These lights will ship in a storage box for safe travels. BUT, I strongly suggest you leave this up as a decoration for year-round enjoyment!

Also, I will ship outside of the U.S., so please message me and I will find the safest, most-inexpensive way to ship to your country and let you know the shipping cost. Please contact me with any questions! Thank you!
