Small Porcelain Egg Shell ornamental dish

This small lightweight bowl is designed around the idea of a broken egg shell, and the fragility that possesses. The neutral colours lend a delicate nature to this piece, with the interior of the bowl coloured in a pale green.

This bowl was hand-thrown on a traditional Potters Kick wheel using paper porcelain, meaning that the exterior is slightly rough to the touch and matte, whereas in contrast the inner is incredibly shiny and smooth, something that further adds to the notion of an egg. The porcelain was also scraped when leather-hard to create the thinness of the material, meaning when held up to the light the piece has some translucent qualities.

The base has been turned to give it a small foot which levitates the eggshell of the surface. It has also been stamped with the makers mark of a mint leaf on the foot, from the artist Pam Neaves.

Ideal for dressing tables, or bedside tables as a ring dish or jewellery holder.

Height 4.5cm. Width (at widest point) 7cm. Weight 71g. All measurements are approx.
