The domestic Mongol horses have become one of my favorite subjects over the years. They run loose in the countryside when not being used for work or milking and self-organize into family groups with a lead mare and dominant stallion. The Mongols let the manes and tails of the group stallions grow long and full, as a symbol of their strength. They have to be able to defend their family group from predators such as wolves. I saw this beautiful stallion at Ikh Nartiin Chuluu Nature Reserve.
