Description

Whether carving up creatures in Colorado, or ripping into some dinner in Delaware, this knife is as beautiful as it is useful. 9" long with a 5"x 1.25" blade and weighing in at 7.5oz. A formed handle of rosewood and damascus bolster keep your grip true, while the sharp edge of the high carbon Damascus steel makes quick work of whatever it's up against, be it a grizzly bear or a summer watermelon.*

If this is for you, enjoy. If for someone else, you might as well get two, because you're not going to want to give it away. Damascus is 7x7 with 5 folds (448 layers).

Disclaimer: It's a knife. It's sharp. Handle with care. It's hard to knit while missing a finger. You assume all responsibility for safe use upon receipt.

*fighting bears is not recommended, but the watermelon had it coming
**there will be slight variations in Damascus pattern and wood grain

BLADE CARE:
1095 high carbon and Damascus Steel are great at holding an edge, but will rust and stain if not taken care of properly. Please clean and dry your blade after use, and apply a light coat of oil (gun oil, coconut oil, canola...almost any clear oil) in order to protect the blade and add longevity.

I bought the Olive Chef Knife as a birthday gift for my boyfriend. He absolutely loved it! The balance and feel is excellent. The engraving and wood gift box added a nice touch. Thank you!

FAQs

Of course! That's what this is shop is all about. Change handles, blade style, change to polished steel or damascus steel, add engraving on wood handles, add a presentation box...think big!

It costs both money and time, so keep that in mind. Send me a note and we'll talk about what is within the realm of the possible. The earlier you talk to me, the better. These things aren't instant!
1095 high carbon and damascus steel will hold an edge very well, but they are not stainless steel. It may take on color with lots of use, and should be dried and oiled, if possible, to prevent rust. If you do get some rust, any commercial rust remover works fairly well, or just take a fine wire brush to it.

The san mai chef knives are 1095 sandwiched between Chrome 12, which is a stainless. This means that the black parts may rust, so you still need to clean and dry it after use, but the majority of the blade should stay nice and shiny for you.

I wouldn't go chipping away at rocks, but they're pretty tough and should last you a long time!
