I went to a cirque de soleil type show this summer and the one thing that was really noticable were the costumes. A lot of them were black with neon colors and they really stood out.

So I decided to try to recreate that look with some black merino, firestar and recycled sari silk.

The firestar and sari silk are carded throughout the batt with the softest black merino at 19.5 micron. There is a LOT of sari silk in these batts.

Another wonderful seller has stated that they think the batts are better if double or triple carded because they feel there is a better distribution of sari silk fibers throughout the batts. I have tried these batts both ways and there are some slight differences. If the batts are single carded, then I have found that the sari silk threads seem to stick out of the spun yarn more rather than wrapping around the single, giving you some wonderful texture to your yarn. (see the last picture of yarn spun with my Carnivale batt, which is the same as this, but with white merino) However, because the sari silk threads may be grouped more together, you may have some areas that you are just spinning the merino for a little bit. Not a lot, but a little bit, because there is tons of sari silk in these batts. If the batts are double carded, then the sari silk bits are straighter and more distributed through the batt and tend to blend more with the single and not stick out very much.

This listing is for a single carded batt. HOWEVER, IF YOU WOULD PREFER, I WILL DOUBLE CARD THE BATT AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. Just let me know when you order that you would prefer it to be double carded.

Perfect for felting or spinning.

Content: approximately 70% merino, 20% sari silk, 10% nylon firestar (all products purchased in the USA)
