Description

Pair of rare, maybe one of a kind, vintage salt and pepper shakers. A pair of lace-up Baby shoes have been cast in plaster (IMO), with green glass bottles imbedded, to form salt and pepper shakers. The shoes are bronze coated. Each shaker has a black bakelite screw on lid, or cap , with 7 holes. Very nice castings all the details of the shoes; stitching, laces, bows are sharp and its clear they are a right and a left shoe that have been worn. The pieces have a sweet nostalgic look . There is minor rubbing wear to the bronze coating but no chips, cracks or visible damage to the castings, the bottles or the vintage thermo plastic caps. These shakers are circa 1930's - 40's and have been in a cabinet display since the 70's. See photos. They are in remarkable condition for their age. Each shaker is 2 & 1/2 inches tall with cap on and just under 4 inches long, 1 & 7/8 inches deep. A unique shower gift, S&P collectible, nursery décor. These are very old and probably best as collectible or display items as they may be too fragile for everyday use as salt and pepper shakers. The two shakers weigh 11 ounces. The coin in some photos is a nickel.
