Description

These shells are from the Kwajalein Atoll which is part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. In the late 1970’s a member of my family spent time at the military facilities at Kwajalein. These shells were collected at that time and shipped back to United States. Since then they have been stored in boxes or plastic storage bins in a smoke-free environment.

If I can identify the shell the name and/or species will be shown in the heading of this listing. Or the shells may be identified by type such as whelk, snail, cone, clam, etc. Or I may not be able to identify them at all, so they are just listed as shells. The primary reference that I am using for identification is “A Guide to Shell Collecting in the Kwajalein Atoll” by F.B Brost and R.D. Coale.

The size of the shells ranges from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches.

Condition – These are beach washed shells which may have some condition issues including chips, cracked edges, etc. Also, they are not as lustrous or colorful as shells found in their native environment. Please review the photographs with this listing to assess the condition of the shells before purchasing.

These are nice shells for craft projects or nautical themed decorations. If you have any questions please contact me through Etsy.
