Chalkboard menu on flattened glass bottle - farmhouse style - unique housewarming gift

DINNER TIME! SUPPER'S ON!!! EVERYONE COME EAT!

I had a blast creating this menu board from a clear bottle that was rescued from the recycling bin. I cleaned it thoroughly, stripped the label, then slumped it in my kiln to nearly 1500 degrees during an 8-hour firing and cooling process. As part of that process, a metal hook was inserted into the top of the bottle for hanging.

Once the bottle cooled, I created and adhered a chalkboard vinyl frame and the menu letters, then tied a festive bow of twine around the top. If you prefer ribbon or raffia, please let me know in the notes of your order. Each Menu bottle comes with 1 fine print chalk marker. Simply wipe the chalkboard off with a damp cloth for a fresh slate. (I don’t recommend submersing the bottle in water.)

Bottles measure 12" long by 4.5" wide. Measurements are approximate as some bottles slump a little differently from others. I select the highest-quality bottles with the flattest surfaces, but please remember there may be minor imperfections and some bubbles, which can be noticed in this bottle near the letters for the word Menu. Air often becomes trapped between the layers of glass as it slumps and I think that gives the bottles their own unique character!

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

I have been fascinated with glass for as long as I can remember (I found a pile of tempered glass pieces as a child, tucked a handful into my pocket and called them my 'Jewels'.) My passion for glass comes from each piece's ability to be recycled into something completely different: Wine bottles can become serving trays, smashed glass can become unique earrings, tempered glass can become solid bowls and plates, and float glass (say, from a skyscraper) can become a glorious sculpture. I can't wait to share more fun items with you!
