Description

Beautiful and elegant Victorian Arts and Crafts 9 carat rose gold brooch centered with a Persian turquoise cabochon gem.

The Arts and Crafts movement was an international movement in the decorative and fine arts that began in Britain and flourished in Europe and North America between about 1880 and 1920, emerging in Japan (the Mingei movement) in the 1920s. It stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms, and often used medieval, romantic, or folk styles of decoration.

Turquoise is perhaps the oldest stone in man's history, the talisman of kings, shamans, and warriors. It is a stone of protection, strong and opaque, yet soothing to the touch, healing to the eye, as if carved from an azure heaven and slipped to earth.

The item is marked for the gold with mark 9ct.

Measurements:
- total weight 2,1 grams
- length 5,6cm (2,20")
- width 1,5cm (0,59")

This item is in a very good vintage condition. The C closure and the pin in excellent condition. The pin stem is made from silver.
