Description

"Finding Balance"

Digital print of a colored pencil illustration. Image is of a young, plus size woman in a stressful, breath-restriction tie. Her underarms are exposed, a usual element of vulnerability in traditional shibari. A rope is pulled tight across her diaphragm as her arms put stress on her neck. The rope on her foot pulls her sideways, creating another challenge as she tries to keep herself upright. Here, she is finding a point of balance between the stress on her neck, ribs, lungs, and core.
This image is drawn from a photo taken of an actual rope scene I had with a friend. Pink is a favorite color that we share, and I enjoy the feminine element it adds in addition to her soft expression and curves. The tie itself is subtle and minimalistic, and showcases the curves of this beautiful model.
This piece aims to present the sensual beauty of shibari from the perspective of the female gaze.

Available in 9x12" and 11x14" prints.

--------------

Original piece is hand-sketched, inked, and then colored with colored pencils. Each digital print sold here is printed on the same 98lb mixed media paper the originals are drawn on, giving them the same texture and feel.
