Handmaid's Tale "Wings" Bonnet DIGITAL DOWNLOAD PDF Pattern & Sewing Instructions

Instant download

Description

Learn how to make your own “Wings”, inspired by Hulu’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”. This bonnet is relatively quick and easy to make, and works well for all your Handmaid’s Tale costuming needs - whether cosplay or protest in nature.

I developed this pattern and designed the techniques used to create a bonnet VERY similar to the show, while still being accessible for the everyday hobbyist seamstress.

SEWING EXPERIENCE: Intermediate, but ambitious beginners could also make this. As with my line of 6 sewing manuals, I take pride in developing patterns and constructing tutorials that anyone can follow. You don't need to have millinery experience - or even all THAT much sewing experience! - to use my pattern, just a little patience!

SIZE: This pattern is considered one-size-fits all, adult.

PATTERN DETAILS: 10 pages of tutorial, 4 pages of pattern comes as single digital PDF to print at home. Pattern prints onto multiple sheets of paper, to be taped together. Pattern/ tutorial is available for download immediately upon purchase.

IMPORTANT: Be sure that your print settings are set to "Print actual size", or else the pattern will print smaller than it should.

Instructions are for either a standard sewing machine (straight stitch and zig zag), or sewing machine and serger. There is no hand sewing involved with the wings. Instructions include colour photos and easy to follow tutorial.

Free tutorial/patterning instructions for the under cap / bonnet are available on my site, here:

MATERIALS NEEDED:

1 yard white linen (This is enough for wings & under bonnet)
1 yard 25" wide buckram (I use “Unicorn” buckram from Joann Fabric)
45" Millinery wire*
45" Extra wide, double fold bias tape, white
White thread
Spray Adhesive
Craft paper, rosin paper, etc (as a drop cloth)

* I use 16 gauge, white millinery wire. I purchased it in a 30 yard length from “Richard the Thread”, where it’s listed as “extra heavy millinery wire”

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Sewing machine (serger optional), iron, ironing board, 5 gallon bucket, scissors, wire cutters

RETURNS: We do not accept returns or exchanges on digital patterns.

Excellent pattern. Easy to follow and came together really quickly. I didn't have access to buckram so I used heavy-duty interfacing instead and it was a good substitute.

This is a pattern. Not a product. Do not purchase anything from this seller. They are not willing to give a refund and it’s a scam!

Yes, it's a downloadable pattern - as it states in the listing title, the photos, and throughout the listing. There's not a single thing in this *DIGITAL DOWNLOAD PDF Pattern and Sewing Instructions* listing that would lead anyone to think that they are receiving anything else - you certainly weren't even charged shipping!

As we discussed, you managed to ignore *everything* in the listing. Had you read it, you would also have noticed that I have a "no refunds" policy, as obviously digital downloads are not a returnable item. Once you have it, you have it.

... and you DO have it, as you chose to download it within minutes of purchasing it. You have exactly the product that you ordered.

I would love to know how this all translates into anything on MY end being a scam.

Great pattern information, though sewing instructions a bit confusing at times. However I would class myself more as a beginner then intermediate. Absolutely love the coat/cape. Thanks
