Description

A very rare antique earthenware statue of a Chinese lantern carrier, made in Bruxelles Belgium, about 1920. Signed Bernard, underneath its also marked Atelier d'Arts, Bern. Jasperse, Bruxelles. The statue has a lovely decoration in soft gold tones, good detail and is in excellent condition. Of course there are signs of age, and a small chip, shown in the pictures. The boy is carrying a copper rod with a silk lantern. The statue itself has a height of 59 cm., with the lamp 71 cm. The wire goes through the statue, when necessary it will be taken out for shipment but will be easy to replace.
