I chose to use this guide for our first day of school. It perfectly conveys the importance of slowing down and observing nature, which is a large part of our schooling this year. We read the story and then baked corn bread, my five year old said “I get it- corn bread like they had in the book!” We packed the cornbread with a picnic lunch and headed down to the river where we made paper boats and my older child read the poem provided. We only did a fraction of the activities in the guide but what a wonderful experience it was. Great product!
