Those who crochet or tat will find this “Thread Tender” very useful as well as eye catching. The size is 7 ¼” across, 8 ¼” tip to tip and is 12” tall. There are 114 pieces on the overlay. The pattern has the illusion of a lot of blocks but there are as many stars as there are blocks. On each diamond, if you go to the side you are in the middle of a block. At each point you are in the middle of a star that has 6 points. This is a “Tumbling Block” quilt pattern, and it extends over the edge uninterrupted. The “Thread Tender” is finished in its natural color with 7 or 8 coats of a clear varnish. After the varnish was allowed to harden for a month, I leveled and buffed it to a nice shine. The thicker varnish gives it an amber coloring. The pieces are a bit over 3/16" thick, glued onto a Baltic Birch base, so they hold up much better than a thin veneer.

The type of wood is listed on the bottom. On this the wood is “Hackberry”, ”Oak” and “Walnut” from Missouri.

I made this thread tender in 2003. On the bottom I signed it, listed the wood, and dated it. After the date, the words “Foot Cut” let you know I made it on a foot powered table saw.

It will ship disassembled. It will need to have the brass rod put in the hole and the nut put on the bottom and tightened is all.

Does NOT Include Thread.

Go to my ”Shop Polices” and “Profile” page to see my return policy and other information on how I make these. To see other items I’ve made, click on “Other Items” or whatever gets your interest under “Sections in this shop”. The “Home” page itself can be rather confusing with everything mixed up. The “Sections in this shop” lets me show you all like items together as a unit.

Payment can be made using Pay Pal for immediate shipment, money order or check. Checks will have to clear before shipment is made.

Additional policies

Why are some of these things so old?

I did shows for 16 years, then had to stay closer to home as both my and my wife’s folks were living with us and needed more care. I made a lot of my things at shows and would finish them up at home. This way I built up quite an inventory of goods I would pack away in boxes. These are not like cars that wear out with age. They just set in a box and stay new. If when you get it, it is not what you want I have a very good return policy above.
