Description

Sterling silver George III serving spoons by London silversmith William Fearn, who was the premier custom silversmith of the period. Detailed, elaborate work on the bowl, representing pineapples and pears - luxury goods at the time, available only to the wealthy. Pineapples were an 18th century symbol of hospitality and generosity, and used decoratively to welcome guests.

These spoons are absolutely unique, and in excellent condition.

Measures 8.0" (20.5 cm) long and 2.0" (5 cm) wide bowl.

On the reverse, both spoons are fully hallmarked. The first stamp is 'WF' the mark for William Fearn of London; the second is the lion rampant, the mark for sterling silver; the third is the head of the leopard, the King's mark of London, and the last is the date mark, standing for 1772.

Arrives protected in a sturdy package.
