The Bean Sidhe, or Banshee, is an Irish fairy woman, whose cries or 'keening' can be heard on the night air, signifying a death within the great old Irish lineages. She is sad and solitary, her white clothes in tatters, lamenting her lost children.

This art doll is entirely handmade. The face is sculpted from papier mache clay, and hand painted. Her body is vintage bainin wool, in a matroyoshka style with no legs beneath her skirt, and she is stuffed with pure new Irish wool roving. Her dress is fashioned from unbleached calico, and her apron is made of hessian. The Bean Sidhe's hair is made with Irish wool that I've found shed on pasture land and cleaned myself. Her shawl is tea stained muslin, and her arms are sewn in place clinging to herself.

My Bean Sidhe doll is securely sewn, with no glue. I have put beans in the bottom of the doll to weigh her down and she stands easily on her own. All of my dolls are made with great affection and care.

The Bean Sidhe doll measures 10 inches high, but her dress makes her 12 inches long. She comes signed by the artist and is one-of-a-kind.
