Turned from locally grown Honey locust wood (Gleditsia triacanthos), 2 1/2" in diameter across the cap, and 3 1/2" high, with a 1 1/2" diameter base. Has a 3/8" hole drilled into the bottom about 1" deep. This wood has a dark, interestingly splotchy-shaped heartwood, surrounded by a pale yellowish or biscuit-colored sapwood as can be seen in the pictures.

This sweet little 'shroom sits well on a shelf, table, on a stick poked into a potted plant, or any level surface. Woodturned items should be kept out of direct sunlight for extended periods to avoid fading and discoloring.

Mushrooms are my favorite thing to turn, and each one I make is totally unique. They are turned from branchwood of various species of wood found in my locality. This one was made from a the limb of a Honey Locust tree that was one of many growing on our rural property. All of my mushrooms have a thin section of the limb's natural outer surface remaining to form the rim of the 'shroom's cap. This gives interesting shape to the cap as you can see in the photos. The cap on this one has a nice curved flare to the edges, and I have left some curly shavings attached to the bottom surface of the cap for a neat gill-like effect.

Signed, dated, and inscribed with the type of wood on the bottom.
