This ankh necklace with Eye of Horus amulet would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves boho or tribal styling as well as meaningful jewelry with historical links. The ankh is an ancient symbol that stands for eternal life. Here it is used as a creative base for several Egyptian hieroglyphics, which are shown in relief on the front of the pendant and as etchings on the back. I've included close-ups of both sides among my photographs. Central among those hieroglyphics is the Eye of Horus, which is featured on the amulet's front and shown in smaller form on the back. It symbolizes good health, protection, and royal power and represents the goddess Wadjet. (For more on the symbol of the ankh itself, please see the concluding part of this listing.)

This bold, lovely amulet was made in the USA of lead-free pewter that was given a dark background patina. It measures 2 1/4 inches by 1 1/8 inches. The necklace itself measures 22.5 inches long. To help you get a better idea of these measurements, I've included a photo of the neckace alongside a ruler.

Also included in this handmade beaded piece are the following:
• Indonesian handcarved bone tube beads in teal, with white carved design and slightly flattened shape. Please note that these beads have a rustic look and are not perfectly identical—qualities that impart tribal styling to the necklace and make it more interesting. Among the designs are circles with an interior dot, which usually symbolizes the "protective eye" talisman.
• Orange-colored magnesite round beads (5mm)
• Off-white wooden round beads
• Pewter spacers with granulated design
• Sterling silver beads, including rondelles (4mm, 5mm; made in Italy) and rounds (2mm, made in the USA), the latter used under the pendant's bail
• Tiny Japanese seed beads, used inside the tube beads and some white rounds to stabilize them on the beading wire
• Sterling silver "S" hook with sterling jump rings (made in Bali)
• High-quality 49-strand beading wire (made in the USA)
• Sterling silver heavy crimps and crimp covers (4mm; both made in the USA)
• Sterling silver wire guards, to help protect the beading wire from abrasion (made in the USA)

These elements were brought together in a design that complements the ankh amulet and brings light and style to the entire necklace.

Meaningful, with ancient symbols, an inspirational depth, and tribal and boho elements, this ankh beaded necklace was handmade by me with great care, thought, and best wishes for its destined wearer. It is a piece that men would enjoy wearing as well as women, and that brings a positive message to all. It will arrive in an eco-friendly kraft-style box, wrapped and ready for gifting to someone special—perhaps yourself!

About the Ankh
The ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol for eternal life, and it is a common element in the art of Egypt during the time of the pharaohs. It is also found on amulets from that historical period. This symbol appears in some ancient Mediterranean cultures as well. For example, in ancient Cyprus, ankhs appeared on coins and were used as a symbol for copper. The ankh enjoyed renewed popularity in the 1960s and is still popular today. It is a highly meaningful and positive element as well as an attractive shape in itself.

Reviews

5 out of 5 stars (115)

I like to ship quickly, usually 1 or 2 days after payment unless it's a weekend or holiday. Please ensure your shipping address is current.

U.S. ORDERS: I ship USPS First Class w/Tracking. If you want to purchase insurance or upgrade, please contact me.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: After many years of shipping internationally, I am temporarily ceasing such shipments.

However, if you live outside the U.S. and would like to buy something, contact me. I will do what I can to help. Be aware that any tariffs, customs fees, and surcharges are paid by the buyer.

Note that shipping is now very costly for USPS First Class International, which is what I would normally use. Also, if you live in the EU, I do not have GDPR policies at the moment.
I sincerely want you to be happy with your purchase.

Returns are accepted if you contact me within 7 days after delivery to you. I expect to receive the item no later than 2 weeks after delivery. If this timeframe is problematic for you, contact me before buying. Also, I do allow extensions for special holidays such as Christmas and Valentine's Day, as some people buy early, me included!

For All Items: I will refund for the purchase price minus original shipping cost.

You are responsible for return shipping with tracking (U.S.). Items should be in their original condition, with the original wrapping and packing materials. Extra items, like jewelry cards, gift bags, boxes, freebies, should be included.
Non-receipt: I will do my very best to help you if items go astray. Tracking provides information on the item's routing to its destination, and I always ship directly from the post office rather than relying on postal pick-up. Again, please be sure that your shipping address is CURRENT.

Damage: I pack orders well to minimize any problem in this area. However, if your purchase arrives damaged, contact me immediately. I will do my very best to help.
I accept PayPal and Etsy Payments. Please be aware that even if you are not a member of PayPal, you can securely use it to pay for your purchase with a major credit card.

Payment must be made within 24 hours of purchase or the order will be cancelled.

To Rhode Islanders: Sorry to say, but by law I must apply 7% sales tax to your purchase and pass it on to "the governor."

Buyers from other states may also be charged state sales tax. In this case, your tax payment is determined and handled by Etsy, not me.
Yes, I am always happy to accept a custom order! Whether or not I require a deposit, full amount, or neither will depend on the nature of the order. I have done a number of such orders elsewhere with no deposit or purchase required, as I knew I could simply add those items to my inventory if the customer decided not to purchase. (Customers always did purchase them, though.) I always show photos of custom orders to the customer.
If you are buying a gift for someone and have used that person's address for shipping, please let me know at the time of ordering - I will be happy to include a complimentary notecard in which is written whatever message you would like to send.

Of course, I am always happy to send to that person's address. Just please make sure it is CURRENT. Thank you!
