This primitive belt bag has been constructed of grunged up buckskin and hair on moose hide.
The flap was cut from the natural hide edge and the bag was made of buckskin for both sides, then the moose hide was sewn on the front. This piece of moose hide is the front a foreleg and left in it's rawhide state. Most belt bags from all tanned are hard to get your hand into. Because the moose hide is rawhide it retains a stiff nature and it makes for a good sturdy bag with body, not all floppy.
Bag measures about 6" square and hemmed opening is plenty big enough for a large man hand. Belt loops are over two inches to accommodate a sash or wide belt. As with all my mountain man articles it has been entirely hand sewn with linen thread and made without a pattern.
Great for a snack on the trail or bullets or fire starting kit, always nice to have an extra pocket. The raw part of the hide does not show inside the bag, it is buckskin both sides. The rawhide was fleshed and prepared properly before using.
