The Noel Dress is upcycled* using 3- 5 dress shirts (instead of flat fold fabric) or uses 2 - 3 dress shirts for the Noel Top. With upcycling, there is no need to print, cut out and tape together PATTERN PIECES. The starting materials are 3D garments, so instead the "pattern" is instructions and illustrations that define exactly what and where to cut (disassemble) and how to reassemble the pieces. You are purchasing a set of instructions that you print on 8.5" by 11" paper which can be put in a binder for future ease of reference.

This A-line dress is loosely fit at the bust and flows free at the hips. Existing dress shirt hems are utilized to create a charming tiered effect. The wavy hems on the tiers add even more interest. The use of multiple shirts create a subtle or dramatic color-blocked effect, depending on the colors and patterns chosen. Leaving off the third tier yields a charming tunic top. A completed garment could easily be converted back and forth from a dress to tunic, tunic to dress. The design closure buttons down the front with the dress’ sleeves shorten with a small hem or are left as is and rolled to ¾ length. The overall effect is unique and arty and is sporty or dressy depending on the choice of colors and patterns.

The NOEL DRESS silhouette works well with all figure types, and is self-adjusting to individual body curves and CUSTOMIZED to your figure.

ALL SIZES ARE INCLUDED in that the size/fit of the finished garment is determined by the size of the main shirt used for the upper torso, the other parts are self-scaling. ANYONE, any size, who can find a dress shirt to fit the way they like across the shoulders and bust, can successfully fit this pattern. If the bodice shirt is tight at the hip, this is not a problem; the instructions walk you through the design process of adding ease.

Really tall or short? This pattern is easy to adjust for height.

The sewing is straightforward piece assembly, mostly using topstitching. All of the tough parts like the collar, collar band, plackets, buttonholes, hem are already sewn on the starting garments, making your job easier! The customization is achieved by picking the right size starting garment and making choices about where to cut by looking at the garment fit on your own body.

Also included in the pattern is an upcycle method of creating an under-dress to add another bottom layer of interest. This way you can have multiple dresses and use the same under-dress.

Sewers with experience with mixing colors and patterns will fulfill their artistic dreams, but those just learning these skills will find they enjoy the challenge and growth to their creativity. !! Have Fun !!
