Antique farmhouse quilt from the early 1900s to the 1880s. Hand stitched and knotted. Like an almanac of old fabrics and patterns: indigos and reds, browns and blacks, mustards and calico, feedsacks and tickings. It's all here, stitched together.
The pattern is a combination of postage stamp, Jacob's ladder and other block patterns — depending on the size of the fabric at hand. Muslin back. Quilted together with knots in different colored threads.
70" x 68"
Condition ranges from very good to completely deteriorated. I'd say it's 70% great. There are sections where the fabric, (which traces back 2 centuries), is in tatters.
It will need repairs. It could be restored. It could be trimmed and given a new border. It's up to you. But this is a remarkable piece of history and a lovely, darling, entirely made by hand old quilt.
