*** Questions to consider when purchasing insect displays ***

~ Does the display glass in the frame slide around in the frame?
If it does, the frame is not sealed and will not last. Museums seal their displays for a reason and I do too. Don't be fooled by the allure of cheap displays - you get what you pay for.

~ What does the back of the display look like?
A quality museum display has a solid backing and not made of paper, mat board, or cardboard. AND SEALED!

~ Does the insect display require chemicals to maintain it?
If so, it is not sealed. Bug Under Glass is proud not to depend on dangerous fumigants.

NC State University story on impact of unsealed insect display and hazards of fumigants.

Insect displays without these qualities do not live up to museum standards and WILL NOT LAST.

BUG UNDER GLASS creates true museum insect displays made and designed to last a lifetime. The first choice of interior designers, stylists and insect enthusiasts.

My insects come from sustainable conservation farms/ranches around the world. I do not sell rare, endangered or insects recognized as unsustainable (Dragonflies, Bats, rare beetles).
By linking environmental stewardship and economic development, butterfly farming positively impacts threatened habitats as well as human well-being. Currently used by conservation organizations, such as the Nature Conservancy and WWF, Butterfly farming helps save rainforest habitat by providing villagers an alternative income to agricultural farming and logging, which clears tropical forest. for more info Google "butterfly farming"
Since these displays are professionally made using UV blocking glass (so colors won't fade) and archival mounting boards - they can potentially last forever if treated with care. Most sellers are hobbyiest and DO NOT use UV glass or use proper materials - -and they will not last.
