This adorable statue depicts a young barefooted boy who apparently works in a foundry. He wears a small billed cap over his curly, tousled hair and appears to be perhaps 14 years old or so. His thick leather apron is tied up at one side by his belt, and his open-front shirt falls loosely around him. His sleeves are rolled up for work. His cropped pants are frayed and torn, and a work glove or cloth hangs out from his side pocket. In his hand is a forging hammer held over a large anvil set on a chunky, large wood stand. Next to it is a small thick pot, perhaps for molten metals.

The statuette is a very heavy cast metal, over-glazed with browns and greens and golds, and is fitted atop a circular, antiqued two-inch-high wooden base. A small plaque in the front says " LABORIEUX" (Laborer) and underneath that, "Par Delavigne". A small 1/2" circular plaque on the lower back of the base has a foundry pot with a pouring spout set over flames surrounded by the legend "Fabrication Francaise" over the top, and "PARIS" and "Made in France" at the bottom. This wonderful boy laborer measures a graceful 17 inches in height and is approximately 8 inches at the widest point. There is some color worn off on the left side of his shirt at the front, and on his chest, but this is not much of a detriment to his overall look. I have chosen not to clean or polish him - that will be up to you.

Such a beautiful statue - from his tiny toenails right up to his gracefully smiling facial features and curly locks of hair!
