Materials

polymer clay, acrylic pigments, metallic gilders paste, PYMII clear coat, silver toned beading wire

Such a unique gift for a bird lover! My second polymer clay hummingbird figurine here. I hand formed the little guy out of professional grade polymer clay, and I have embedded textures into the clay before curing to add a decorative depth to the bird. He then was hand painted, in professional grade acrylic pigments of green, dark blue purple, ruby red on his throat, warm white and light dusty mauves on his underside. Hints of gold and copper metallic gilders paste I then rubbed over his throat and areas of his wings and body, to add some iridescence to the paint. His long beak I made from an embedded piece of silver toned German jewelry beading wire. The wire is bendable so it is recommended to be gentle with it and not to hold him by it. The hummingbird's wings are upraised as is his fanned tail. His eyes are vintage matte silver toned metal seed beads. They are not painted metal, but the type of matte silver seed beads found on old eastern jewelry. His little metal bead eyes are embedded into the clay before it was cured.
The clay hummingbird I have sealed in professional satin non yellowing, non stay sticky clear coat that is designed for polymer clay and acrylic paint.

The Ruby Throated Hummingbird we see often throughout the summer, into September, here in Ontario. It is a migratory bird, from Mexico, and it is the only type of hummer we get near Toronto, Ontario. I just love seeing them in August and September when they are loading up on nectar in order to make thier long journey south.

You receive the Exact bird pictured here. I only sculpt each bird I make by hand, then list that finished piece. I can make to order, but the next one will never be exactly the same.

SIZE: The hummingbird is about 3" long, 4 1/4" long if you include his beak, and 1 1/2" high, so is a small sculpture, and weighs ounces, so is not heavy at all.

CARE: This little hummingbird clay piece just needs to be gently wiped with a barely damp corner of a soft cloth, no cleaners or detergents recommended. Like any clay piece, he can be vulnerable to breakage if dropped or knocked onto a harder surface, and his beak can be bent. I recommend displaying him on a shelf that is not easily brushed by and up a bit higher than kids and pets can reach. When unwrapping him from his package, please do not suspend the package in mid air, but open it on a soft surface such as a bed or couch, just in case you drop him taking him out of his wrapping. Do not hold him by his beak nor by a wing.

I trust I do not need to say this but I will; Not for Children. This is a decorative figurine for display only.

I am able to accept personalized or custom orders, but am unable to offer refunds on either. Cancellations are accepted only if requested within a 12 hour period after ordering.
My sizes are described as accurate as possible. Questions are always welcome. Lengths of necklaces can be altered upon request, upon purchasing, in most cases.
Polymer clay is not harmed by water, but some of the finishes and clear coats, as well as the metal pieces, can be, over time. It is recommended that cleaning solutions are not used, clay pieces are not worn into hot tubs, pools, and not repeatedly in the shower.
I am happy to gift wrap, or add personal notes, if requested, within reason. Sorry, I will not send anything anonymously from a buyer to their recipient, upon receiving such requests, under any circumstances.
Wholesale is not really a possibility for my pieces, as most are one of a kind, and some of my supplies are antique, upcycled, and limited.
My jewellery and accessories are not recommended for young children.
I ship your purchase tracked and insured. I only charge what it costs me to ship from Canada to your location so that your package is shipped safely to you. It is $16.00+ Canadian minimum, to ship tracked small packages to US addresses. So, as you can work out yourself, my shipping is generally undercharged.
I do not charge extra for handling or packing materials, and I make no profit at all on the shipping I charge.
