Please note: The back of sew on tags are heat sealed with a light layer of lamination to prevent the cotton fabric from unraveling. This layer makes the cotton labels study and fray resistant, yet soft to the touch and thin enough to hand or machine sew.

SEW ON - hand or machine sew on item. optional step: label may be ironed first to hold in place for sewing

REGULAR IRON ON - lighter adhesive for delicate fabric and yarn - apply with hot, dry iron for 3 seconds with some pressure.

HEAVY IRON ON - stronger adhesive for cotton fabrics - apply with hot, dry iron iron for 15 seconds using firm pressure

Tip: test item to ensure it can handle the iron heat without damage. Protecting exposed fabric/yarn can help keep the heat on the tag only.

The label text can be completely customized! The "handmade by" part comes standard, but let us know if you prefer it to say something else (Made by, With Love by, or something else completely!). We will use the fonts from the design to make up your labels unless you specify a different font when ordering. Fonts choices are found in the product images above and can be tested and previewed before purchase at:

(due to limited space on etsy, there are more font options available to try and use on your labels on the preview tool than are shown on the etsy image).

More text/characters on the label will result in smaller text/font size and may cause to text to be too small to read, please keep the size of the label in mind when ordering.

EverEmblem offers fabric tags in two main types:

-fold over labels only - cut ribbon edges need to be sewn into a seam or turned under to prevent unraveling

1. remove the paper backing from the tag and put on item

2. Using a hot, dry iron, heat the tag on the item for the recommended time:
Regular iron on: 3 seconds
Heavy iron on: 15 seconds

*note - longer times do not equal better adhesion, following the heating times exactly is the key to a strong bond

3. do not touch or move the item for a full two minutes OR until the item is cool

**this is the most important part** if the item is moved while still warm the adhesive will separate and the label will come off. Once the adhesive is fully cooled the tags will be adhered.

Resist the urge to check the corners of the tag until it is fully cooled :)

Please wait at least 24 hours before washing items with tags applied.

Most problems with iron on tags not sticking are due to the adhesive not cooling completely before the tag is moved.

If the item is moved or the tag corners are lifted while the adhesive is still warm, the glue will separate and the tag will come off. The adhesive layer must fully cool to have a strong bond.

Resist the urge to check label adhesion until the tag is completely cool :)

*heating the tags for the exact time on the package is also crucial for a strong bond. longer heating will not result in a stronger bond, but will damage the adhesive and prevent the label from sticking.

The font options are found as one of the product images for each label design. Etsy does not have a font preview tool, but we have a website that allows you to try our fonts with your text to better visualize your labels

Cotton sew on labels are printed with an 1/8" border around the design to allow you to sew them on your item.

Remove the paper backing from the tag just before using. This exposes the laminated backing that prevents the cotton from fraying when washed.

Either hand or machine sew around the edge of label (no need to completely secure the edges with a zig-zag; the backing will prevent fraying). Using a straight stitch works for securing, or get creative with embroidery floss of fancy stitches :)
