Botanical Name: Sagina subulata 'Aurea'

Common Name: Scotch Moss

Bloom Time: May to June

Flower: White

Plant Height: 1 inch

Foliage: Tight, mat forming

Plant size: FULLY ROOTED IN 2.5" POT

Requirements: Full sun to part shade. Average, well drained soil.

Life-cycle: Perennial

Tolerate: Deer, Light Foot Traffic

USDA Hardiness Zone: 4-8

Culture:

Prefers evenly moist, compost-rich soil. Likes a lot of moisture, but not wet feet. May need to be protected from hot afternoon sun in the south. Can be a replacement lawn for cool summer areas. Can be divided in fall.

Noteworthy Characteristics:

'Aurea' - Lush bright green moss-like carpet of foliage 1" tall. Tiny translucent star-shaped white flowers add to its beauty in spring. Irish Moss is just the ground cover you need for rock gardens and planting between stepping stones or pavers.

Our plant spacing recommendations are based on how quickly these plants will spread in their first season of growth.

Garden Uses:

Rock gardens, edgings, foundations or ground covers. Ground covers are particularly valued in sunny areas of woodland gardens, slopes, native plant gardens or naturalized areas. Also appropriate for sunny areas of border fronts. Drape slightly over a rock wall.

Certain plants prefer colder climates and others prefer mild winters. So knowing what your hardy zone is very important. For example, if I needed to find out what my hardy zone is, I would go to Google and type in "Coeur d' Alene, Idaho hardy zone. It's that simple!
Yes, I only offer top size bulbs so you can rest assured that they will perform well and bloom in your garden the very same season. However, certain plants like Peonies may take two seasons to grow be for showing flowers. For best results be sure plant your bulbs as soon as they arrive. If you purchase bulbs in the Fall they should be planted in the Fall. If you purchase in the Spring they should be planted in the Spring (after danger of frost has passed).
