Dated January 27 1875 title page reads ‘The book of common prayer and administration of the sacrament and other rights and ceremonies of the church according to the use of the church of England: together with the psalter or psalms of David pointed as they are to be sung or said in churches: And the form and manner of making, ordaining, and consecrating of bishops, priests, and deacons.’
‘ printed by G.E. Eyre and W. Spottiswoode printers to the Queen‘s most excellent majesty. London: Griffith and Farran corner of Saint Pauls Church yard’
This is a truly spectacular and one of a kind pocket sized book.
A message in the front cover reads
‘Mary H Loff
A gift from her affectionate mother
January 27 1875’ in purple caligraphy.
Book is extremely old and although the latch works it has over time separated the front cover and first page from the binding. The book is otherwise in tact and in wonderful condition! Every delicate page is legible and undamaged. The leather bound, tooled and gold embossed front and back covers are beautiful. Only place with damage is as pictured spine is in tact! No cracking of the spine. Cover and spine read church services. Tiny latch and hinge are in original condition this is a true piece of history! Measures approximately 4“ x 3“
