Description

Here's your chance to be ultra-creative with six 2/3 ounce jars of Jacquard Procion MX Dyes. This cold water fiber reactive dye is know the world over. The undisputed king of tie dye, Procion MX is also one of the most versatile dyes available. Use it for hand-painting yarns and fibers, immersion dyeing, tie dye, batik, airbrush, garment dyeing, screen printing, spatter painting, gradation dyeing and more!

This cold water concentrated dye, which you add to tap water, is the most vivid of all dyes for cellulose fibers. You can easily create a palette of colors ranging from light pastels to deep, vibrant hues. Typically, one 2/3 oz. bottle will dye more than 1 pound of fabric and several pounds of top or yarn - very bright colors will require more dye, pastel colors will require less.

Procion MX fiber reactive dye will dye all cellulose (plant) fibers and some protein (animal) fibers. Common cellulose fibers are cotton, linen, jute, ramie, sisal, and rayon. For best results on protein fibers we recommend using Jacquard Acid Dyes.

**You will need Soda Ash to set these dyes. Soda Ash can be found locally and is very inexpensive. You can find it at pool and plumbing supply stores, feed stores and on the laundry aisle of your grocery store marked as Washing Soda.**

You choose any six colors from the following list:

Lemon Yellow
Bright Golden Yellow
Antique Gold
Rust Orange
Brilliant Orange
Bright Scarlet
Fire Engine Red
Carmine Red

When dyeing cellulose top or yarns we soak the fiber for 30 minutes in soda ash water (1 cup of soda ash to 1 gallon of water). We keep the Soda Ash Water and reuse it until it is gone. Squeeze excess water out of fabric, lay flat to dye, and apply dye using squeeze bottles (1 teaspoon of dye to 1/2 cup of water). After dyeing, wrap in plastic and let sit for a day or two. Rinse well and hang to dry.

All of our items come from “the BEST little Wool Shop in TEXAS”, WC Mercantile, located in the heart of the Antique town of Navasota.
