Item details

Vintage from the 1950s

Materials

metal, chrome, rubber, plastic

This is a vintage Remington Quiet-Riter in very good condition in olive with forest green keys.

As with all my vintage typewriters, I've cleaned, adjusted, and lubricated this Remington, as well as installed a new ribbon. It is ready-to-use as soon as you get it home.

**COSMETIC CONDITION**
Cosmetically, this olive/gray colored Remington Quiet-Riter vintage typewriter is in very condition. It has forest green keys and accent/control elements, with a bright metal return bar. Along with the olive-colored shell, the machine has an attractive, decidedly 50s vibe. There are some paint blemishes and a few scratches on the back, but otherwise the machine looks very god.

This Remington Quiet-Riter also comes with a travel/storage case that is in very good working condition.

**MECHANICAL CONDITION**
Mechanically, this working Remington typewriter is in excellent condition. It types easily and responsively, and is a joy to type on. The platen has hardened some with age, and will leave occasional indents and possibly cutouts in the page.

**RECOMMENDED BUYER**
I recommend this typewriter for a newer collector, someone who wants a quality, reliable, working machine, or a decorator looking for a typewriter with a 50s vibe. Remingtons are often overlooked by their flashier, more well-known competitors, but the they are well made, workhorse machines, ready to produce a lot of work when called upon. This example of the Quiet-Riter is in very good shape, and will keep typing for years to come.

Thank you, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

- Mark

Returns and exchange details

I sell vintage and antique typewriters that are no longer made, some of which are 100 years old or more. As much as I'd love to be able to tell you that they will always be problem-free and last forever, I can't, because they won't.

Older machines can develop problems without notice, even if they're properly maintained and loved. I promise to accurately describe, photograph, or video any typewriter I sell. If you want additional photos or have questions about anything, all you have to do is ask. You can also inspect the machines in person if you are in the Kansas City area.

So, to make a long story short, I will accept most returns, but I do ask that you pay for return shipping. If your typewriter does not work as it should upon arrival, I'll accept a return unless it was sold as a display model. Also, if you do experience a problem, many times there is a simple repair that will solve it. I can often walk you through the repair so you don't have to send the typewriter back.

Shipping policies

Unless otherwise agreed to or specified, I'll ship all typewriters via USPS, FedEx, or UPS at my discretion. I will use the method that is most economical for my buyers, and will ship to anywhere in the continental United States.

If you are located outside of the United States, please contact me before making a purchase. I can usually arrange shipping, but I don't want to make any promises I cannot keep.

As far as packaging goes, shipping typewriters is notoriously problematic for some people. Typewriters have heavy moving parts (the carriages) that can be easily damaged if not properly secured. I lock the carriages on all shipped typewriters if they have that feature, but I may also secure them with additional safety measures. I use a variety of techniques to make sure your machine gets to you in exactly the same condition it was in when I boxed it up.

Please be advised that some typewriters are very heavy, and can weigh 40 pounds or more. These heavier machines naturally have higher shipping costs associated with them.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept credit cards, PayPal, or Etsy gift cards. If you absolutely must have a machine and cannot pay me with either of these methods, please contact me so we can try to work out a solution. I know how strong the pull of a vintage manual typewriter can be, and I'll do my best to make sure I get your baby to you.

Additional policies

A lot of vintage stuff, especially typewriters, is beautiful and awesome. But I suppose you already knew that.
