The luggage tag says Alfred Welton. I bought a few items from the man that bought Alfred’s house. I researched Alfred independently and found him at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. This is what the cemetery website says;
Welton, Alfred F, b. 02/26/1921, d. 05/09/2009, Section 2, Site 304, US MARINE CORPS, CPL, WORLD WAR II.
It would appear Alfred bought this for himself after he returned from the war. It is a late 40s J.C. Higgins suitcase. J.C. Higgins was an employee of Sears that had his name used on everything from luggage to guns. It was to denote the items as "sporting".
