An essential element of Japanese culture, the furoshiki is a traditional fabric that can cover or transport absolutely anything! Use your new furoshiki to wrap gifts, hang on a wall, display as a tablecloth, as a fun purse, baby bag, scarf, or for transporting groceries or other goods.

This furoshiki collection's unique details ----
Finish: Hand sewn, smooth rolled, half inch hemmed edges
Material: Cotton
Care: Washes like a dream, no special instructions needed. All items are machine washable in warm or cold water and hang dry or gentle dryer cycle. No bleach products, please!

Sizes:
Small 18" x 18"
Medium 24" x 24"

Washes like a dream, no special instructions needed. All items are machine washable in warm or cold water and hang dry or gentle dryer cycle. No bleach products, please! Enjoy extra poly foam padding and especially tight stitching with organic cotton thread for ultimate protection, durability, and aesthetics.
To present a gift wrapped with furoshiki is a heartfelt gesture. In Japan, it is considered very respectful and appreciative to wrap gifts in furoshiki. Chances are, you can start a fun new tradition as you will see the same furoshiki exchanged between friends and family over and over again!

Furoshiki is not merely a piece of cloth, it represents a way of life that reflects back on simpler times. It symbolizes interaction between people in the most organic way – the giving and receiving of gifts in utmost sincerity, and thus the exchange of friendship and love. Way before it became hip to be an eco-warrior, the art of furoshiki was already entrenched in the principle of the three Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle! The average American family discards around 1,500 plastic shopping bags a year - using furoshiki is a small - but important - step in the right direction to contribute positively to the environment.

Your furoshiki will be sent quickly, in our signature eco-packaging, ready to give away as a gift or treasure at home.

Did you know ... items in my shop are made to order, so most fabrics listed as furoshiki can be used for sword bags, and vice versa! Send me a message if you see something you like in a different category.

Thank you for choosing Kendo Girl.

If there is any problem whatsoever with your purchase, please let me know and I will do my best to make it right. I make each item by hand and check over it thoroughly before preparing for shipping, but if I miss something - just send me a quick message. I will take care of you.
I offer free domestic shipping and usually ship first class unless it is too heavy, in which I will ship priority via flat rate padded envelope. For international orders, I will do my absolute best to keep the package light enough to ship first class and if needed, I will refund any shipping overages.
Yes! I hold kendo shodan in the Midwest Kendo Federation, United States. I don't have a rank in quilting, though.
Don't worry. Fabric wears over time no matter how strong I sew or how careful you are with your item. I am happy to make repairs no matter how long you have had your bag. I am happy to give "facelifts" to bags that need a little repair or sprucing up, too. Just send me a message and I am happy to make your bag like new!
