Item details

Vintage from the 1960s

Materials

Steel, Rubber, Chrome, Plastic

This is a Royal Royalite portable manual typewriter. One of the last typewriters to bear the Royal name, this machine was designed to be small, light, portable, and easy to use. As with all my typewriters, I have cleaned, repaired, lubricated and polished this vintage typewriter, and it is ready to use.

**COSMETIC CONDITION**
Cosmetically, this Royal manual typewriter is in very good condition. The cream-colored shell with off-white keys and bright metal accents give it a distinct retro vibe. The machine has a few cosmetic blemishes here and there, but nothing significant. These typewriters were made with shells of colored plastic, so there is no paint to scratch.

This Royal typewriter comes with a plastic carrying case that snaps onto the body of the machine.

**MECHANICAL CONDITION**
Mechanically, this Royal type writer is in very good shape. All control features function as they should, the type slugs are clean, and this typewriter is ready to type.

**INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING**
I do ship internationally, so please contact me for a quote if you are interested in any of my typewriters.

**RECOMMENDED BUYER**
I believe this typewriter is a perfect for a new typist who wants a small, portable, light machine, or a younger owner (or a parent of one) who who wants a machine that is well-suited to a child. Though this typewriter is perfectly functional, I would not recommend it for someone interested in heavy writing. The lightness and of these Royal ultraportables make them less than ideal for heavy writing duties, and someone who wants to type a lot would be better served by a different machine.

Thank you, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Returns and exchange details

I sell vintage and antique typewriters that are no longer made, some of which are 100 years old or more. As much as I'd love to be able to tell you that they will always be problem-free and last forever, I can't, because they won't.

Older machines can develop problems without notice, even if they're properly maintained and loved. I promise to accurately describe, photograph, or video any typewriter I sell. If you want additional photos or have questions about anything, all you have to do is ask. You can also inspect the machines in person if you are in the Kansas City area.

So, to make a long story short, I will accept most returns, but I do ask that you pay for return shipping. If your typewriter does not work as it should upon arrival, I'll accept a return unless it was sold as a display model. Also, if you do experience a problem, many times there is a simple repair that will solve it. I can often walk you through the repair so you don't have to send the typewriter back.

Shipping policies

Unless otherwise agreed to or specified, I'll ship all typewriters via USPS, FedEx, or UPS at my discretion. I will use the method that is most economical for my buyers, and will ship to anywhere in the continental United States.

If you are located outside of the United States, please contact me before making a purchase. I can usually arrange shipping, but I don't want to make any promises I cannot keep.

As far as packaging goes, shipping typewriters is notoriously problematic for some people. Typewriters have heavy moving parts (the carriages) that can be easily damaged if not properly secured. I lock the carriages on all shipped typewriters if they have that feature, but I may also secure them with additional safety measures. I use a variety of techniques to make sure your machine gets to you in exactly the same condition it was in when I boxed it up.

Please be advised that some typewriters are very heavy, and can weigh 40 pounds or more. These heavier machines naturally have higher shipping costs associated with them.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept credit cards, PayPal, or Etsy gift cards. If you absolutely must have a machine and cannot pay me with either of these methods, please contact me so we can try to work out a solution. I know how strong the pull of a vintage manual typewriter can be, and I'll do my best to make sure I get your baby to you.

Additional policies

A lot of vintage stuff, especially typewriters, is beautiful and awesome. But I suppose you already knew that.
