Description

This wonderful Gibson teapot would make such a vintage touch to your tea time!

This teapot was made by Gibson, in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. It was made in the 1950's as part of their Mayfair teapot collection.

The teapot was made in the mold to have rounded shape. There is a small hole in the lid to allow steam to escape. On the inside of the teapot, where the spout meets the body, there are a series of four holes to help strain your hot tea.

The white teapot was coated in a white glaze. A pattern was applied. The pattern on the front side of the teapot is a large pink rose, a pink rosebud and a blue flower. They are joined by their brown stems and green leaves. On the back side of the teapot is a smaller version of this pattern. On the lid two pink rose buds with their brown stems and green leaves was applied.

Gold trim was liberally applied. A thick band of told was hand painted to the handle and spout and to the finial on the lid. A gold pattern was hand painted to the front of the teapot, giving it an earlier, more 1930's feel. A clear glaze was applied overall before the final firing.

On the underside of the base the teapot is marked in the mold "Mayfair", "Gibson", "Made in England". The Gibsons crown backstamp is stamped in black. Potter's marks are written in gold.

This is a full size teapot. The teapot measures 6" wide, 8" from handle to spout and stands 7 1/4" high.

This teapot is in great vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks. There is no loss to the colors, glazes, gold, or patterns used. There is crazing in the final clear glaze, which is expected in a teapot of this age. I have adjusted the price to reflect this.

This is a very pretty teapot that certainly gives that vintage feel to a tea table or collection!

FAQs

Because everything in my shop is vintage or antique, I recommend hand washing your purchases with care. Usually warm water and a mild soap is all you need. No dishwasher, unless something is marked safe for dishwasher use. Things that have endured this many years with other owners will last so many more years if cleaned with care.
Because my shop is vintage and antiques, I do not offer gift wrapping. If a purchase is marked that it is going to someone as a gift, I put your note in the box with the item you ordered. I package and ship everything just the way I would want to receive it! Secure and safe and packaged to arrive at your home in the same condition as it left mine. I ship everything USPS Priority to limit the time it is in transit, unless you choose to have it shipped with a different time frame.
Every order I receive I consider a custom order since every item is unique. I am not able to accept exchanges since every listing is for the only available item I have and it is not replaceable. I cannot accept returns unless the item you received arrives to you in a damaged condition. If any purchase you receive is less than what you ordered, please contact me within three days. If you have any questions, feel free to message me and I will gladly respond.
