Description

Brown scapulars have such a rich and beautiful history: so should your scapular! These are beautiful and unique, with each of the four sides holding a special meaning. One of the pieces depicts a chalice of the most precious blood and the body of Christ on one side and a simple gold cross on the other, a reminder of the greatest sacrifice to ever occur. The other piece reads "Ave Maria" (Hail Mary!) in simple font with the other side depicting a beautiful flower and a vine. The first line of the novena to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is "O Beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine . . . ," which inspired me to embroider a flower and a vine together in honor of our mother Mary. Each scapular is made from 100% brown wool, which meets the standard for brown scapulars. It also comes with a miraculous medal on one side.

To make the scapular best fit for you or for the person who will wear it, you may choose to customize it! During the check-out process, you may indicate whether you would like designs on two sides or all four. There are many options for designs. A few are: chalice and host, cross, flower and vine, Ave Maria, chi-rho, IHS, JMJ, sacred heart of Jesus, immaculate heart of Mary, etc. When you make your order, we will discuss about the specific designs you'd like. If you have an idea other than the ones I just listed, just let me know and we will see what we can create together!

If no specific designs are specified with your purchase, the default is chalice + host and cross for two designs, and as pictured for four.

I am greatly inspired by St. John Paul II's "Letter to Artists," where JPII drew the connection between the desire to create and our longing for Christ and the Church. All my creative inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit, so as a way to give thanks and add purpose, I pray a rosary for each person any of my pieces of art goes to. I'm so glad to pray for you.
