Extra Small – 8″ x 6″ / 15 x 10 cm: As a general guide a 8″ x 6″ size is suitable for a single pet’s head and shoulder portrait.

Small – 10″ x 8″ / 25 x 20 cm: A 10″ x 8″ gives a portrait with much more detail or a horse or larger pet’s head and shoulders. It is also large enough to show up to two small pets.

Medium – 12″ x 10″ / 30 x 25 cm: A 12″ x 10″ gives lots of detail for one pet, can fit a full body portrait and allows enough space for two or maybe three pets.

Large – 16″ x 12″ / 40 x 30 cm: This size allows for a lot of detail, even on full bodied and multiple pet portraits.

A2 (23″ x 17″) and A1 (33″ x 23″) increase the detail and the amount of pets that can be depicted.
When your pastel portrait is shipped to you, it is sandwiched between two mount boards. The portrait itself is covered with a sheet of glassine paper which offers protection against and rubbing that could occur. If you need to re-package your drawing to have it framed in a shop then it is very important to carefully replace the sheet of glassine paper and fix it firmly with tape to prevent any sliding or movement.

Once your portrait is framed it should be safe to be seen and enjoyed for generations. Take care not to hang it in direct sunlight as it could possibly fade over time and if you ever have it re-framed, please remember to treat it with care and never leave it face down.
Commissioning a portrait of more than one subject does not require a reference photograph of all subjects together. You may be lucky enough to have a perfect photo to use as a reference, but especially with pets and children, this is often completely impossible! Separate photographs can easily be used to place the subjects together in the portrait, with the client choosing to either direct me or requesting to create the layout myself.
Depending on size and the time of year, it will generally take 3-4 weeks. If you would like it sooner or by a specific date, please just let me know at time of ordering and I will accommodate to the best of my ability.

Ordering for Christmas:

Every Christmas we have to turn away a number of requests for commissions as the order book is too full. It is never too late to order in time for Christmas. You can place a 20% deposit if you wish to secure a Christmas commission.
To secure a commission, you can either pay in full upfront or place a 20% deposit. The balance will be due once your commission is complete.

To place a deposit, choose 'other payment' at time of ordering and you will receive an invoice for the deposit amount.

This deposit guarantees your commission, and is non refundable. Balance is payable on completion of portrait and your 100% satisfaction. If you require the commission for a certain date, please let me know at time of ordering.
