This vintage ring is in that class of Mexico’s modern jewelry that established the country’s reputation from the 1930s onward for excellent design and quality workmanship.

It was made in Taxco and has the eagle mark stamp with a “2” and is marked “MEXICO 925 ARC.” The eagle stamp dates the piece between 1948 and 1980, the period during which the Mexican government regulated silver production. It requires workshops to register and use the number they were issued on their exports.

The stone is a stunner. It is a brilliant cut ice blue spinel of around 5 carat weight points and 11mm in diameter. The scalloped crown setting lets in lots of light for maximum brilliance. (The authenticity was verified with a Presidium Gem Tester.) The bezel rises about 1cm above the finger.

In excellent vintage condition, the size 5.25 ring has a slender band and weighs 5.59g (.197oz).

It will arrive in a gift box to which a gift message may be added.
