Gauge is the thickness of the wire portion that goes through your nose. I use 20 gauge as a standard "fits most" sizing but many people like a thicker or thinner gauge.
20 gauge wire is about the thickness of a regular earring post.
18 gauge is one thicker than 20 gauge.
22 gauge is one thinner than 20 gauge.
Gauge thickness gets thinner for the higher the number, so 22 gauge is thinner than 20, and 24 gauge is thinner than 22, etc.
SCREW END, BONE END, OR FISHTAIL - WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?
I design left and right nostril screws based on a comfort fit. My photos all show what I design as a nostril screw for the left. If yours is different, and you prefer it, simply order the opposite.
Bone end has a small ball on the end of a straight shaft to hold it in place.
Fishtail is a straight shaft that you can bend yourself or get a piercer to bend. I do them in 17mm length but if you need another length, just ask.
I make my shafts about 6.5mm long
The small "L" part of my L ends are 5mm long
The screw portion of my screw studs is about 4.5mm wide
However, I can adjust to any size you require if you just let me know.
All sterling silver tarnishes – it is called oxidization. It can be cleaned with a silver cleaner. I buy mine from the jewelry counter and simply dip the silver in there for a second and give it a rinse. It shines it right up.
What about gold? Simply clean in warm soapy water and rinse well.
I just got my nose pierced! When can I wear my new piece I bought from you?
When you are FULLY healed. You need to keep the piece in that your piercer picked out for you until the healing process is complete. If you aren't sure whether you are healed, please consult a professional.
