Description

Mini Book Brooch : Trixie Belden and The Secret Mansion

Trixie Belden is a "girl detective" in this popular mystery series written between 1948 and 1986. The first six books were written by Julie Campbell Tatham, then continued by various in-house writers under the pseudonym Kathryn Kenny. Beatrix "Trixie" Belden lives in the Hudson Valley area of New York at Crabapple Farm, with her parents and three brothers, Brian, Mart, and Bobby. Together with her friends Diana and Honey, and her brothers, they all work together on baffling mysteries. Often compared to Nancy Drew, Trixie is younger and a lot lot less sophisticated, often considered as a more realistic younger teen with insecurities about her looks and a bit of a fiery temper.

This miniature book brooch made from a vintage book cover and spine miniaturised as a book lover's vintage fashion accessory!

Size: the book dimensions are slightly larger than a matchbox, 5.5cm high and 3.5cm wide.

The image is of a real used book, little creases and imperfect patina are intentional and part of the 'well-loved and well-read charm'. The front/back plate and spine have been glued around a firm foam card core (the books have no contents and do not open). A lockable brooch pin is fixed to the back with industrial adhesive.

Note: Because of the tiny size of these miniature books some of the smallest wording may not be readable; the mini books are designed to give an impression of the original but are not exact copies.

Perfect as a Teacher or librarian gift or for anyone who grew up on and loved these books, or loves quirky vintage styling.

Please note: the foam card is firm and sturdy, but it is a less expensive and more delicate alternative to brooches made of polymer clay. The difference in weight and durability of materials is reflected in the price difference between these two types of items. If you see a book title in polymer clay but not in foam card like you want (or vice versa) feel free to send a message and I'll arrange to make up a custom order for you.

Care Instructions: Being made of cardboard, foam and paper these books are not waterproof. The foam card is sturdy and light to wear but the inner foam core can be easily gauged/dented, I'd recommend storing separately to your jewellery in its own box.
