Description

Yum-Yum Placemats have a patchwork top and a coordinating one-piece backing. The patchwork top is made from six smaller blocks that spell out the interjection “yum-yum” in a manner that creates an abstract design. Each placemat measures 18 inches wide and 12 inches high, not including the binding.

Four fabrics are needed for this project. Three fabrics are used in the patchwork top of each placemat and the fourth fabric is used for the backing, binding and, if you wish, coordinating napkins. Tonal fabrics are ideal for the letter blocks that form the top of each mat so the letters can be easily identified. Because the word “yum” appears both right side up and upside down on each placemat, I recommend that you do not use one-way prints with this pattern. Prints that appear essentially the same from any direction work the best in this project.

This 5-page PDF pattern includes many colored diagrams, detailed instructions, fabric selection tips, yardage requirements and a chart of pieces to cut for the placemats and napkins—everything you need to successfully create a beautiful project with your own special touch.

When you purchase this pattern, you will also receive my free 5-page PDF tool for calculating yardage, shown in the last product image. This Yardage Calculator will not only guide you in determining your yardage requirements, but it will also guide you in cutting pieces for your quilt from strips. You can use this tool with any quilt pattern, not just with my designs.
